Come, Follow My Mouth

Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralytic, “Take courage, son; your sins are forgiven.” – Matthew 9:2b

Many of Jesus’ first words when he encounters people is to say, “Your sins are forgiven.” If out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks (Luke 6:45b), then forgiveness outflows out of the heart of Jesus. Forgiveness is at the heart of the Christian journey, so much so that Jesus includes this in the His prayer (Matthew 6:12). Even at the last hour, Jesus asked His Father to forgive those who put him on the Cross (Luke 23:34). It’s as though He is made of forgiveness that if you bruise Him, forgiveness – not blood – would come of the bruise. He would bleed of forgiveness.

The brokenness of creation and our brokenness bruises us at best of times. Would you receive the Words of Life, the Words of forgiveness from the Word of God. The Word of God, Jesus Christ, is forgiving.

Prayer:Our Father, You are Holy beyond our understanding. We are sinners redeemed by Your Son by the power of the Spirit. Continue to open our hearts to You that your Word of forgiveness may transform and heal us of our iniquities.
