The Tempter

“Be sober-minded and alert. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in your faith and in the knowledge…” 1 Peter 5:8
There is an enemy, an old evil genius. He is a thief, a deceiver, a liar, an accuser, a tempter, and a destroyer. He is an enemy of God and of His Christ. He hates the truth and anyone that bears the Truth. Because he is anti-Christ, he fights against anything that upholds Christ. His mission is to steal the word of truth from the hearts of people. He works in coalition with fallen angels and demons to perpetuate evil and unrest in our world. This tempter will do everything to get you distracted. He will try to stop you and prevent you from succeeding. He is like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. But the Bible says, resist him. Stand in the truth of God’s word and he will flee from you (James 4:8). And do not give the devil a foothold (Ephesians 4:27). Put on the full armor of God, so that you can make your stand against the devil’s schemes (Ephesians 6:11).
Today, as we come into the second week of our fasting and prayer, we are going to take an offensive move against the enemy of our soul. We are not going to stay on the defense, waiting for the enemy to hit us first. We know his plans so we are launching an all-out attack against him and take all that God has given us in 2020. Are you ready?

Father, in 2020, lead me not into temptation but deliver me from the evil one. The evil one is out there plotting against me, but arise o Lord and them be scattered. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
