The Obedience To Follow

“that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death” Philippians 3:10

As we follow Christ, we experience in His death, the death of our idols. The mystery of God’s gift of new life is cloaked in death. One has to die to be resurrected for God cannot conquer death that has not occurred. We have many idols, you and I; some we are aware of, some we are in denial that they exist and have power over us. The reality with our idols is that they are hidden. Their life is in their hiddenness, in their deception.

The power of the resurrection is not only the death of these idols because they can only die when exposed to the light of God. The power of the resurrection is a life to which idols are not attractive (1 Corinthians 15)! The resurrected life is a life without darkness where idols thrive.

Prayer:Our Father, only You can destroy our idols hidden in the dark places of our being. Bring us to life by Your Spirit!
