“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God; …Christ in you, the hope of glory”
In the Garden of Eden, before the fall, the man was clothed with the glory of God. He had no need for anything. Everything in the Garden was a reflection of God’s glory. Once he sinned, he was uncovered, felt shame, and “fall short of the glory of God.” Which means, he falls short of ‘all the fullness of God and His blessing’.
A lot of emphasis is placed on the grace of God today. But before grace came God had shared His glory with man. It was when the man lost the glory he knew he was naked. In our nakedness, we saw the grace of God revealed when He clothed us with His glory (His fullness and Blessing) in Christ Jesus.
When Jesus walked the earth he came to manifest the glory of God. To the man born blind, the disciples asked, “Who sinned…? Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him…” (John 9:3-4). When Marta and Mary blamed Jesus for the death of their brother Lazarus, Jesus said, “…you would see the glory of God. Your brother will rise again.”
Jesus has given us the glory that the Father gave Him (John 17:23). We are called to glory and virtue. And in Christ Jesus, you have been clothed with all the fullness and blessing of God.
