In Shadow of The Almighty

Psalm 91

“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

All throughout the Scripture, God kept assuring His people of His ever-abiding Presence. He promised, “…surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” “…I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Therefore we will not fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea…The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.” “So we can say with confidence, “the LORD is my helper, so I will have no fear, what can mere people do to me?”

Psalm 91 can be compared to been seated with Christ in the heavenly places, far above principalities, and powers. A place the arrows of the wicked cannot reach. God loves us too much that He guards us as He would guard His own eyes. There is no need to fear. Whether deadly pestilence, the terror of night, the arrow that flies by day, none will come near you. Even the angels are attending to you every moment to keep your foot from striking against a stone.

But you have to keep your thoughts always on God. “Dwell in Him”, make your abode with Him, sit down in His secret place and you will have the Almighty as your constant companion.

Don’t take Psalm 91 as an emergency Psalm. Meditate on it. It is a declaration of your independence – your freedom from harassment. Celebrate your victory.
