The Provision

“If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” John 15:7
There is a blessing, blank-cheque-kind of promise, that is given to every branch that abides in Christ and in His word and in His love. Jesus never puts a limit on what we can ask for. He said, “Ask whatever you wish and it will be done for you.” When Jesus makes a bold promise like this, He invites us to challenge Him. No wonder, Apostle Peter calls it, “his very great and precious promises.” But why does God gives such a blank-cheque promise? So that through them you may participate in His divine nature (1Peter1:4). How do His promises enable us to share in His divine nature? God wants to demonstrate His power and love in your life, so He gives you a blank cheque for you to request anything. For instance, when God promises, “I will make you the head and not the tail” and you take that promise and begin to talk to God over it, pray over it, discuss it, and observe the condition around it. What are you doing then? You are participating in the nature of God. You are inviting God into your life. And as you and God continue to fellowship over His word, the promise starts taking affect your life. And you are on your way to the top.

Father, I am so excited that You have invited me into a life of active participation in your nature. I am glad you are not just a thought or imagination. I don’t need to go to school to learn about You. Your promise is my school. You have revealed yourself through your promises. As for this blank cheque today, I am ready to ask big. I ask in the name of Jesus…
