Come To Me

“Come, follow Me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.” – Matthew 4:19.

Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ invites us in the most personal way to come. What does ‘come’ mean? Of all the possible invitations, this invitation is the one where He calls. He did not say ‘join’ as though it was a movement, although it ended up being one. Nor did he say ‘sign up’ even though there is the Book of Life (Rev 17:8). He says, “Come”.

‘Come’ – In a word, Jesus invites us to have intimacy with Him. Closeness is implied in the word ‘come’. When we come, we are closer to Jesus who calls us. Jesus is also very clear; we are not to ‘come’ to any created matter or being, we are to come to Him. We are to come to the One from whom, through whom and to whom all things (Rom 11:36) created begin and end (Rev 22:13).

Prayer: Our Father, You have called us in Your Son, Jesus Christ, to come. By Your Spirit and Your anointing, order my steps in the way to act toward Your Presence.
